How to play it
The F to the Lower East Side / 2nd Av, or the M/R for SoHo and the Village — cheapest by far.
Narrow downtown streets and bags make the door drop worth it.
Metered, simple; ends below 60th so the small congestion fee applies.
SoHo, the Villages & Lower East Side is below 60th Street, so any car you take in — taxi, rideshare or black car — crosses into the Congestion Relief Zone. That adds $0.75 to a yellow taxi, $1.50 to an Uber or Lyft, and the $9 peak toll to a private car you drive yourself. The Q70, M60 and LIRR pay none of it. See the congestion-pricing bulletin.
